"Life lessons without the Brick Wall" Harsh Realities is a small press company established to produce role-playing games (RPGs) and other products intented to be enjoyed for entertainment and educational purposes. RPGs can help people of all ages learn social interaction, greater communication skills, problem solving skills, help to enhance writing, speaking, and mathematic skillsets, as well as allow the player to better understand and assess moral value, consequences of decisions, and greater world view dynamics. More specifically, Harsh Realities and the HR creative team wish to impart to our players the very real and serious lessons of life without the brick wall. What does this mean? Many of life's lessons can have harsh realities in the sense of consequences we pay for choices we make. The HR team has experienced some of these hardships and would like to help others to see a glimmer of hope in what can seem to be a very dark world. All of Harsh Realities game worlds represent the mirror of our own world in a dark, gritty, 'live and let die' mentality that we see all around us. That glimmer of hope that was mentioned is our way of saying that there is an answer. We have experienced the peace and hope that comes in the form of unconditional love, grace, and forgiveness (future, past, and present) of sins, and seek to offer the option to others in any form that we can. We design our games with this in mind and attempt to illustrate the stark contrasts of the light of hope and the darkness of the world. Every Harsh Reality will offer a look into this concept and an escape from the vileness of darkness, but it won't be easy, it never is. More personally, I would like to say that my journey to finding God (that is to say my savior Jesus Christ) was not a short or easy path. It can be, but it takes a great deal of open-minded faith, something that I did not posses in my youth. I'm still young and still learning every day, but what I know for certain is that without God, I am nothing. He has blessed me beyond my wildest dreams and then some. I know this may sound odd to some of you, but all I can do is try to explain it as best I can, and offer it to you in turn. If you found the Fountain of Youth, or a great treasure of some sort, wouldn't you want to share it with your friends? That is how I feel about this. I wish I would have listened to my friends and family years ago, but since I didn't, I hit many, many brick walls. Good thing I have a hard head. If you want to hear more about this Light of our own (real) world feel free to email me at info@harsh-realities.com or look it up for yourself in any copy of the Holy Bible (people will tell you that the version or print of the Bible matters, the short answer is that is doesn't really matter so much, what matters is getting your hands on one and seeking out the Truth!). Here are some places to get started... John 3:16, Romans (anywhere!), The Gospels (otherwise known as Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John--any of them, and anywhere within) Ephesians 6: 10-20 The Bible is FULL of life lessons and encouragement. It's a precious and highly underrated resource, and so is the Author. In Christ, Harsh and the HR creative team |
